Fans of the Kengan Ashura anime on Netflix may be forced to wait a little longer for season 3 to be released after coronavirus delays production.

When it comes to fighting anime, not many shows do it better than Kengan Ashura.

The series unique blend of traditional animation and CGI has led to many fans believing that the fight sequences beat even those of Baki.

Kengan Ashura follows Tokita ‘Ashura’ Ohma, a young man who joins gladiator arenas ran by business owners and merchants. Whilst his fighting style and devastating knockout power results in many victories, it also leads to more attention.

The show developed a significant audience after it debuted on Netflix in 2019, but fans have been left with several questions about the upcoming season.

Kengan Ashura season 3: Storyline

As the anime series is an honest adaptation of the original manga series, we do know quite a lot about the possible direction that the season 3 storyline could go.

Season 2 covered volumes 10 – 18 and concluded with the awesome showdown between Ohma and Raian of the Kure Clan. If the anime roughly sticks to the same storyline, season 3 should cover volumes 18 – 27 of the manga.

This means that the story will focus more on Ohma’s journey among the corporate-gladiator world and battling the strong-fighters from the realm.

However, there is always the possibility that season 3 could draw inspiration from the sequel manga series ‘Kengan Omega’ which began in 2019 and is set two years after the events of the original series.

Kengan Ashura season 3: Release date

Whilst no official release date for Kengan Ashura season 3 has been announced, there was hope that the third instalment would drop in the next few months.

Unfortunately, production on Kengan Ashura season 3 has been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Many fans are still hopeful that despite the setbacks in production, we could get season 3 by the end of 2020. Although if we are being realistic, most sources are reporting that a mid-2021 release date is the most likely.

Kengan Ashura season 3: Renewal status

At the time of writing, there has been no official news on whether Kengan Ashura has been renewed for season 3.

However, fans of the show should not worry as rumours have been circulating online that the anime will return for a third instalment.

Unlike other genres of television, anime announcements can sometimes be spoiled by the constant communications between fans across the world.

If there are enough rumours from credible sources floating around social media, it usually means that a show is in production but the owning broadcasting network is waiting on an official trailer to be ready before announcing anything themselves.

Many fans believe that this is the case for season 3 of Kengan Ashura, so expect a formal announcement from Netflix within the next two months.
